What does the hair transplant consist of?
A hair transplant is a systematic and artistic redistribution of the hair shafts which consists of introducing small grafts of scalp which contain what are known as follicle units (groups of 1, 2 or 3 hair shafts, according to the patient).
These grafts are obtained from a lateral or posterior area of the scalp (DONOR AREA) with a local anaesthetic and, once meticulously prepared under a microscope, they are carefully introduced by means of micro-incisions to the balding areas or areas lacking hair which would evolve into baldness (RECEPTIVE AREAS).
By obtaining grafts from lateral or posterior areas of the head, genetically programmed to grow for life as they possess hormonal receptors which are not affected by the enzymatic hyperactivity, once grafted in other areas they will not fall out and will continue to grow normally.
